ALEXANDRA WAIERSTALL

THERE/AFTER

In THERE/AFTER, the choreographer Alexandra Waierstall and five dancers explore the geological and ecological layers of (post-)humanism. With the certainty of a sleepwalker, she creates a resounding and physical landscape offering numerous opportunities for a new beginning. Each sequence of movement refers to the previous one, gradually fades and is then stoked up again by the energy of transience. Despite all warnings against an imminent, self-inflicted decline of humanity, Waierstall succeeds in evoking poetic moments of a new era created by humans.

The choreographer ALEXANDRA WAIERSTALL was born in England, she grew up in Cyprus and has been living in Düsseldorf since 2004. Many of her conceptually and physically shaped works are interdisciplinary. She produces for theatre, galleries, museums, and urban space, and tours nationally and internationally. Until 2016 she ran TheArtSpace, a ‘project space for ideas in motion’, in Düsseldorf. She is also co-founder of the interdisciplinary festival NO-BODY in Nicosia, Cyprus.

FELIX LANDERER

37 MINUTES OF PRESENCE

Life is short and fleeting, the tiny timeframe of the present passes in a wink. In his most recent work, 37 MINUTES OF PRESENCE, Felix Landerer examines precisely this present and thus existence in the here and now. To this end, he defines the body as a reflection of the passing of time, of the attempt at holding on to it, and the possibility to engage with the present.

Since 2016 the artistic work of the internationally working, award-winning choreographer FELIX LANDERER has had a fixed location in Hannover, where he founded Landerer & Company in 2010. Since 2011 he has been the in-house choreographer of the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and worked as a guest choreographer for, among others, the dance company of the Goteborg Opera, the Nederlands Dans Theater II (NDT II), the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Luzerner Theater, the Konzerttheater Bern, and NWDP Portland/Oregon.
